The following in an opinion column written by a member of the Duke Wisdom Network. You can submit columns or news commentary of your own by joining the network.

The DMV is known in the basketball world for producing top players in the game. And right now, 2025 4-star guard Acaden Lewis is next up to represent the area.

The talented point guard is nationally ranked No. 32 in the class and is the fifth ranked point guard, per 247sports. Hailing from Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C., Lewis was named the 2023 Gatorade Player of the Year for the District of Columbia.

At 6-foot-2, the quick and shifty point guard has a lot of blue bloods impressed by his ball handing ability and overall confidence. Lewis is a true lead guard who can break you down and initiate offense in a multitude of ways: shooting from the perimeter, getting to the rim and setting up others on the floor, which any team would love to add to their roster.

Don’t let the 4-star rating fool you into thinking he’s not a top choice though. All you have to do is look at the schools that are after him to see that he is highly valued: the bluest of the blue bloods are after Lewis.

Lewis is considering three schools: Duke, Kentucky and Connecticut (after recently dropping North Carolina from consideration). He is likely to be invited to most, if not all, the high school All-Star / All-American games in the spring, which will only make his stock grow.

Lewis is fresh off of his official visit to Duke for Countdown to Craziness, which marked his third official visit so far. This weekend, Lewis will be heading to Kentucky to attend its Big Blue Madness, which will be the last stop of his official visits. After that, he’s one step closer to making a decision.

The prized recruit is rumored to be leaning to an “Early Signing Period” commitment. Many fans think their favorite team is the right team for Lewis, and many even go so far as to say they are his top pick. However, between the recruiting experts, no one has really mentioned a clear betting favorite at this time.

As a Duke fan, of course I’m hoping that Jon Scheyer reels in Lewis. But this Duke recruiting class has been highly unpredictable so far, and many commitments seem reliant upon other dominoes falling into place first.

I would assume that Lewis wants to be "the guy" and have the ball in his hands. In my opinion, if Duke can land the Boozer twins (in which stellar guard Cayden Boozer is a part of), then Lewis will look to remove Duke and focus on UConn and Kentucky. If Miami secures the twins, then I feel it’ll be more likely that Lewis will add his name to The Brotherhood.

My prediction right now on where Lewis will play his college ball is unfortunately in Lexington, Kentucky, where he will be the next great guard to wear the blue and white checkerboard.
