The Blue Devils dropped their first game of the Scheyer Era against sixth-ranked Kansas Tuesday night. They looked to bounce back with a win against the reigning CAA champions, the Delaware Blue Hens.

Duke was without freshman star Dariq Whitehead in each of its first three contests, but Friday night marked his debut in a Duke uniform after suffering a fractured right foot in late August.

Freshman Dereck Lively II received his first starting spot of his career, taking Ryan Young's spot in the lineup tonight as Lively takes the next step in the process of the number one overall recruit's recovery.

1st Half

Lively got going with a free throw, his first non dunk point at Duke. He, Kyle Filipowski, and Tyrese Proctor produced the bulk of Duke's offense early as the Blue Devils jumped out to a 12-8 lead early.

Proctor continued to build off the offensive production he had in the second half against Kansas, as he had 9 points early. Duke had eight scorers (out of nine players played) through the first eleven minutes. The Blue Devils jumped out to a 31-18 lead.

Whitehead picked up the first bucket of his career in the first half as Duke led 36-26 with four minutes in the first. With his bucket, all nine Blue Devils who played in the first had scored.

The Blue Hens cut the lead down to five a minute and a half later, 38-33.

Delaware's five first half threes was good enough to keep it close as Duke led 42-36 at the break. Proctor led the way for Duke with 9 points and 7 rebounds. Filipowski and Jacob Grandison each posted 7 points.

2nd Half

Filipowski and Proctor got Duke going early in the second. The bucket from Proctor gave him his first double-figure scoring game of his career. He was the first Blue Devil to cross the double-digit threshold as well tonight.

Despite their lack of size, the Blue Hens were able to keep the Blue Devils off the offensive glass. Duke had just five offensive boards early in the second when they average 19 per game. This effort helped keep the Blue Hens within reach.

Four Duke turnovers early in the second helped fuel the Blue Hens efforts. Duke still led 54-47 with 12 to go.

An and-one by Jeremy Roach helped galvanize Duke's offense. Immediately after, Grandison knocked down a three to match Duke's largest lead of the night. A Jaylen Blakes pick and transition dunk extended the lead to fifteen, 62-47.

Duke continued to grow its lead as Blakes hit a pair of threes and notched a new career high with 9 points. Duke led 72-49 at the under eight timeout.

Proctor notched the first double-double of his career with about six minutes to go with points and rebounds. Filipowski was a big offensive spark for Duke as well.

After Whithead hit his second shot of the night, Duke led 80-51.

Lively fouked out with 5 points with just under five minutes on the clock; he was the first Blue Devil to foul out this season.

Duke claimed a 92-58 victory after running away with the game during the back half of the second. Filipowski led Duke in scoring with 18 points, coupled with 8 boards. Proctor ended with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Mitchell scored 12 and Grandison 10 points. Blakes and Roach each added 9 for Duke.

PLAYER OF THE GAME: Kyle Filipowski (18 PTS, 8 REBS, & 3 BLK)
