Darren Harris

Class of 2024

6'6 195 lbs SF

Uncommitted

*Holds offer from Duke*

Darren Harris, a 4-star guard-forward out of Fairfax, V.A., took his official visit to Duke on the weekend of Saturday Oct. 15, and soon after set a decision date for Oct. 22. The current high school junior is considered a Duke lean by the 247sports crystal ball. If he were to commit to Duke, he would be the first commitment for the class of 2024 for the Blue Devils. His other finalists include Maryland, Miami, and Ohio State.

Now I'll give a breakdown of his game to show Duke fans what they might be getting in Harris. I have looked over YouTube clips of Harris' game and found the best ones to highlight his game so you do not have to and will provide my own personal thoughts on each:

Breakdown: Harris represents a trend for Duke, guards/wings from Paul VI High School (Jeremy Roach and Trevor Keels also attended Paul VI).

He also represents a new trend in the kind of players Jon Scheyer is going after: shooters. This short clip from Harris' sophomore season showcases his shooting ability. Scheyer has shown time and time again that he is going after shooters, and Harris is no exception.

There are not many comprehensive highlight tapes for Harris, but here is a more recent look at his shooting displays.

My evaluation of Harris is a simple one; he may be the best shooter in the class of 2024. His ability to shoot not only on catch-and-shoot three pointers, but also off the dribble, pump fakes, and in the mid-range are eye catching.

If he proves to be an effective collegiate defender, Harris could be an extremely valuable "3 and D" player.
