2023 5-star forward TJ Power has committed to Duke over Boston College, Iowa, North Carolina, and Virginia. Power joins Duke's top rated 2023 recruiting class, and fellow 5-star commits Mackenzie Mgbako, Sean Stewart, Caleb Foster, and Jared McCain. The 6'8 sharpshooter is Jon Scheyer's twelfth commitment since becoming assuming the role of head coach in waiting on June 2, 2021 (10 of which are 5-star commits).

Jon Scheyer may have rounded out his top rated 2023 recruiting class Wednesday afternoon with TJ Power. Power, who surged into the top twenty-five of most recruiting rankings after an impressive showing at EYBL, is heralded as an elite shooter from both the perimeter and mid-range. The versatile forward is a promising defender as well; he was awarded the EYBL circuit's Defensive MVP at the end of July. How Will Power Fit in at Duke?

Power told Joe Tipton of On3 that he enjoyed watching other high school players on the AAU circuit growing up like future Blue Devils Cam Reddish and Marvin Bagley III. Power believes that he can be plugged in to various lineups in versatile ways.

The Blue Devils will likely be without Dariq Whitehead, Dereck Lively II, and at least two of Filipowski, Proctor, and Mitchell in 2023-2024 (due to NBA Draft early entries). So, Power will compete for minutes with fellow freshman Mackenzie Mgbako and Sean Stewart (and possibly either Mitchell or Filipowski). His versatility will be useful in earning him minutes as he can be plugged in at SG, SF, or PF in various lineup combinations.
