Senior guard Celeste Taylor scored her 1,000th career point yesterday, Dec. 11, vs. Florida Gulf Coast. Taylor's 13 points and 5 steals earned her the player of the game honors in Sunday's contest. She is averaging a team best 11.1 PPG this season, her third season averaging over 10 PPG. Taylor averaged 9.3 PPG as a freshman in the only season she fell short of the threshold.

Taylor is the 38th Blue Devil to surpass 1,000 career points at Duke. Her teammate Elizabeth Balogun surpassed the marker earlier this season; though, like Taylor, the majority of her career points were not scored at Duke.

The Blue Devils, who are rated 10th nationally in NET rankings (although they do not appear in the AP Top 25). They will begin conference play against Virginia on Dec. 21 after a ten day break for exams. The Cavaliers will come to Durham for a matchup between two unranked opponents who some believe to be criminally underrated. The Cavaliers are off to an 11-0 start to the season, and the Blue Devils are off to a 10-1 start, with their only loss having come to UConn. Duke has claimed its ten victories by an average of 28.6 PPG.
