Week 7 AP Poll: Despite not playing, Duke falls to No. 14

December 19, 2022

The Duke men's basketball team hasn't played a game for nine days now, and that drought will stop at ten days tomorrow, Dec. 20, at Wake Forest. Despite not even playing, or having suffered a loss in over three weeks—Duke fell two spots in this week's AP Poll.

The eleven teams ahead of Duke remained the same, but UCLA and Gonzaga passed Duke in the poll after collecting big wins over Kentucky and Alabama respectively. A big slate of games on Saturday Dec. 17, led to losses for many top teams, but none of the losses were enough to catapult Duke up the poll.

Virginia suffered its first loss in a home game to No. 3 Houston, and fell to No. 6. Miami and Virginia Tech remain in the top 25 as well; the Hurricanes at 22 and the Hokies at 21.
