Even though the 2024-25 college basketball season doesn’t start for another six months, we already know 27 of Duke’s 31 regular season opponents, including all 20 conference foes and 7 of 11 non-conference games.
So far, Duke’s non-conference scheduling efforts have been indicative of a desire to strengthen their resume heading into conference play. The Blue Devils are scheduling many opportunities to pick up Quad 1 wins in November and December, so the same “ACC is bad” argument won’t harm their seeding once again come March.
The dates and times of most of the games have yet to be determined, although we know some of them. Here’s a good look at what the schedule is likely to look like:
Non-conference games
vs. Maine
Nov. 4 | Durham, NC | HOME
Likely second low-major / mid-major opponent at home
TBD (likely Nov. 8 or 9) | Durham, NC | HOME
vs. Kentucky (Champions Classic)
Nov. 12 | Atlanta, Georgia | NEUTRAL
Likely return home for low-major / mid-major opponent
TBD (likely Nov. 15 or 16) | Durham, NC | HOME
at Arizona
Nov. 21 | Tucson, Arizona | AWAY
vs. Kansas
November (exact date unknown, possibly 23rd) | Las Vegas, Nevada | NEUTRAL
vs. SEC Challenge Opponent
Some time from Nov. 25-Dec. 4 | Opponent TBD; prediction is Arkansas | Durham, NC | HOME
vs. Illinois
Likely mid to late December | New York, New York | NEUTRAL
vs. George Mason
Dec. 17 | Durham, NC | HOME
Two more non-conference games of varying difficulty will have to be scheduled some time in November or December. The other two predicted matchups above are speculation. Only 7 of 11 games are filled as of now.
Conference Games
Home and Aways: North Carolina, Wake Forest, Miami
Home Only: California, Florida State, NC State, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, Stanford, Virginia Tech
